AYA Goods Aya goods is a contemporary African clothing brand founded by designer Lucy Mulima. Inspired by African traditional clothing and contemporary design, Aya Goods delivers a fabulously unique and elegant blend of modern and traditional fashion for the high-end and fashion-conscious consumer.

All clothing and accessories are created with African-inspired wax prints and hand-woven fabrics, sourced from around Africa. These fabrics are then meticulously pieced together by local tailors who deliver exceptionally crafted statement pieces. Each item boasts a distinctly chic quality rooted in the aesthetic elegance and simplicity of the geometric designs. The integration of contemporary and African design delivers fashion which traverses between and beyond African borders.

The name Aya originates from the Twi language, spoken by the Ashanti people of Ghana. The representation of Aya as a fern, by the Adinkra symbols, is captured in Lulima’s minimalistic fern-inspired logo. “Aya stands for endurance, perseverance and defiance of difficulties in all aspects of human endeavour. It stresses the need for human beings to be strong-willed, self-reliant and resourceful in order to meet the uncertainties of life” – Aya Goods. This is serves as the foundation of the brand, the result of which does not fall short of representing strength, energy and defiance.
